Georgina Sparks: Do-Gooder?

So I get all the Shopbop emails with updates about markdowns, new products, coupon codes and whatnot (Reason #4386902 why I'm always broke). On Sunday I got one advertising Michelle Trachtenberg's collaboration with Botkier on a new bag called the "Michelle Satchel" (creative, right? Wonder how long it took to come up with that one.) I can't poke fun at this venture and feel good about myself, though, because 50% of all Purse Proceeds go to Oxfam International. Apparently the idea developed after line founder Monica Botkier and Michelle Trachtenberg saw each other at an Oxfam event about a year ago. Read a quick Q&A with Monica here.

^Here's the "Michelle Satchel."

This post isn't really about the bag, though, or even the organization it benefits really. Maybe only Gossip Girl (what else?) fans will appreciate this, but instantly when I saw the name "Michelle Trachtenberg" in my inbox I felt my muscles tense and my blood pressure go up. Why? Two words: GEORGINA SPARKS!! The Reigning Psycho Queen of the Upper East Side (slash Most Significant Recurring Guest Star Across Seasons) on GG, played by Michelle Trachtenberg. Girlfriend is CRAZY on the show. This is a perfect example of how divorcing fiction from reality is kind of a HUGE PROBLEM for me. I can't do it sometimes. When I saw that email I instantly thought about how there's no way Georgina's going to fool us this time. No way!!! From the very first moment she was introduced we ALL knew she'd be trouble. They don't crank up the Kills songs on GG for just any old villain. She pulled the veil over our eyes once with the whole "I've come to Jesus and been reformed" act and she'll NEVER get away with trying to convince us she's "changed" again; this so-called "purse collaboration" is just part of her calculated scheme to scam Oxfam International out of millions of dollars!!

Sadly enough, this was honestly my thought process for a few seconds until I finally remembered that Michelle Trachtenberg is a person and Georgina Sparks (the Spawn of Satan) is not. (I also remembered that Michelle played Harriet the Spy back in the day, too, who was a good-hearted kid with innocent intentions. Like I said, separating fiction from reality, kind of a problem for me. Always.)

One thing's for sure: Georgina has never left the show lacking in Big Bags or Evil Death Glares. See below:

I'll use any excuse to talk about Gossip Girl, let's face it. But y'all know this by now.
