Kevin, you're such a disease

Why does Home Alone (and Home Alone 2) just never get old? Seriously. Even though I'm still home for Christmas break and enjoying being here, it no longer really feels like the holidays. My family is back at work and school and most of my hometown friends have headed back to their schools or jobs.  But last night it felt like Christmas again because Home Alone was on VH1.  I'd rented a movie I've really wanted to see for a while now, but Macaulay Culkin won, as always. And the movie was not uninterrupted by annoying, repetitive commercials. And I've seen both Home Alone movies (1 and 2, the good ones) like 500 times each. And...I just didn't care.

I've been trying to figure out why this movie never loses any of its appeal whatsoever, even after the katrillionth viewing.  It's not like it's some great cinematic masterpiece. There isn't an awesome soundtrack. The characters are funny, there are some hilarious lines, and Macaulay Culkin's the cutest kid ever with some now-iconic facial expressions, but it's not like this movie's the funniest in the world and tons of the humor is just slapstick.

Is it because I grew up with this movie? Well, that's probably part of it, but there are plenty of movies I grew up watching, and I don't automatically change the channel when I see that they're playing on TV, interrupted every 5 minutes by commercials.

I don't know. It's a mystery.  But I'll love this movie forever ever ever.

Buzz, your girlfriend...Woof!
