You, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, make my dreams come true

We're more than a week into 2010. The "Best of 2009" lists, in every category, have been out since November, so I'm a little late on this. But it isn't a list or a review per se. I just want to gush a little about my favorite movie of 2009, along with one of my favorite actors.

Ok. I hate to undercut all the amazing acting he's done (Brick, (500) Days of Summer, 10 Things I Hate About You, Manic, Mysterious Skin, etc.) by saying something like this, but I have to. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is officially the cutest human alive. Maybe even the cutest person who has ever existed or ever will exist.  No exaggeration.  I'm sad I missed out on seeing (500) Days of Summer in theaters, but immediately when it came out on DVD I rented it, promptly watched it 4 times in a span of 16 hours (true story, I only stopped watching to listen to "You Make My Dreams" on repeat for hours on end and look up interviews with the actors/screenwriters/etc.) Then I went out and bought it. At 3 A.M. Still listening to Hall & Oates.

It was not only my favorite movie of 2009, it's made its way on to my shortlist of all-time favorites. Joseph's performance as Tom Hansen, an average cutie who falls hard for another average cutie who isn't quite feeling it, had everything to do with that. Admittedly, his perfect-beyond-belief smile, boyishly-fit body, and unexpectedly deep voice all enhanced my enjoyment of the movie...but it was about more than that. He just totally inhabited the character and was so relatable and lovable.  Someone with Joseph's talent should be more famous than he is, but I'm actually (selfishly) thankful he's not.  I don't want to share him with all the Matthew McConaughey/Bradley Cooper-type swooners. AKA I'm going to pretend he's my dirty little secret.

Oh, and the dance scene, complete with my favorite Hall & Oates number, was the best, cutest surprise I've gotten in a movie in years. I seriously bookmarked the YouTube clip (which inexplicably leaves out the hilarious Han Solo bit) and watch it at least daily. More like hourly. Kinda wish I was kidding.

Aaaaah. I WANT HIM.
